Motor Control Solutions

STMicroelectronics Motor Control Solutions are a portfolio of products for low-voltage motor control applications. These products include monolithic driver ICs, power MOSFETs, IGBTs, gate drivers, power modules, and dedicated microcontrollers to address a broad range of applications. STMicroelectronics has boards and reference designs for Low Voltage Motors, which include < 100V all the way to High Voltage Motors 600V up to 1200V. Permanent Magnet synchronous motors and Brushless DC motors are replacing DC brush motors in more applications for advantages like higher efficiency, quieter operation, and better reliability. Despite the different structures, all three-phase permanent magnet motors (BLDC, PMSM) are driven by a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) three-phase bridge (three half-bridges) to supply the motor with variable frequency and amplitude of voltages and currents.

STEVAL-CTM009V1 STripFET Evaluation Kit

STMicroelectronics STEVAL-CTM009V1 STripFET Evaluation Kit is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of Power MOSFETs based on STripFET™ F7 technology. The 100V STripFET™ F7 devices (STH31xN10F7) are ideal for low voltage (up to 48V), high current applications such as forklifts, golf carts, and power tools. The STEVAL-CTM009V1 Evaluation Kit includes the STEVAL-CTM004V1 Power Board, STEVAL-CTM005V1 Bulk Capacitor Board, STEVAL-CTM006V1 Driver Board, and the STEVAL-CTM008V1 Current Sensing Board. The Boards have been pre-assembled to build an inverter power stage for three-phase motors. The STEVAL-CTM004V1 Power Board features an Insulated Metal Substrate (IMS), NTCs for thermal protection, and decoupling gate resistors for each power MOSFET. This Power Board is designed to host ST devices in the H2PAK-6 package. The STEVAL-CTM006V1 Driver Board includes L6491 Gate Drivers to drive the power MOSFETs and integrated comparator for protections. The ST Motor Control Connector on the Driver Board allows the STEVAL-CTM009V1 Kit to interface with other ST MCU Motor Control Boards (not included). The STEVAL-CTM005V1 Bulk Capacitor Board is used to connect the 48VDC power source, such as a battery, to manage the ripple current. The STEVAL-CTM008V1 Current Sensing Board allows monitoring of isolated current and DC bus voltage. The internal Voltage Reference (VREF) can be overridden by providing an external VREF source.
