Ohmite TAP650 Heat Sinkable Planar Resistors
Ohmite TAP650 Heat Sinkable Planar Resistors provide 650W of power dissipation with proper heat sinking. These low-profile resistors are cased in a special resin-filled epoxy for high insulation resistance and dielectric strength. The resistors are designed for low inductance and capacitance values that offer stability in high wattage and pulse loading situations. These planar resistors are capable of 4KVrms and less than 10pC partial discharge. Ohmite TAP650 Heat Sinkable Planar Resistors feature a leaded design, wide resistance range, 250mm standard lead length, and ±5% to 10% resistance tolerance. These resistors provide improved heat transfer and discharge capabilities by using a high-purity ceramic metalized film on the bottom. The series is ideal for variable speed drives, power supplies, and other power and control designs.Power Rating
Ohmite TAP650 resistors offer 650W power at 85°C bottom-case temperature. This value is only applicable if using thermal conduction to the heat sink Rth-cs<0.117°C/W. The rated value can be obtained by using a thermal transfer compound with a heat conductivity of 8.55W/mK. The flatness of the cooling plate must be better than 0.05mm overall. The roughness of the surface should not exceed 6.4μm.
