NXP Semiconductors RD-UAMP-SENSOR Sub-µA Current Sensor

NXP Semiconductors RD-UAMP-SENSOR Sub-µA Current Sensor is a Kinetis® K22F-based current measurement board running on FreeRTOS, for use with the Freedom Development Ecosystem or any other Arduino-like development boards. The RD-UAMP-SENSOR provides non-intrusive interfacing between any MCU Board and 3.3V Shield, and the measurement of a large range of low currents (60nA to 5mA). Multiple communication methods are available, including integration with Freedom Sensor Toolbox (CE).

The NXP Semiconductors RD-UAMP-SENSOR Sub-µA Current Sensor embeds two controllable current measurement units that allow for signal
filtering, automatic, and manual range switching. The RD-UAMP-SENSOR also includes an LCD module and capacitive buttons for quick visualization and configuration. The LCD module provides quick and easy access to all configurable parameters, as well as live visualization of the acquisition values through a menu.

The RD-UAMP-SENSOR is designed to interface with any existing 3.3V MCU Board and Shield combo, such as the NXP Freedom Sensor Development Kits.

The 3.33 simply plugs in between the MCU Board and Shield, mirroring all pins except for the 3.3V supplies that now go through the current measurement units.

Features

  • Controlled by Kinetis K22F MCU with Arm® Cortex®-M4 Core (MK22FN512VLH12)
  • Plugs in between any existing 3.3V MCU Board and Shield solution without requiring any firmware changes
  • Uses the widely popular Arduino connector layout and pinout
  • Bidirectional design enables measurement of the MCU Board and Shield currents separately
  • Auto-switching shunt resistor bank for optimal range selection, accurate current-sense amplifier, and 16-bit sampling depth
  • Optimized processing pipeline enables acquisition at 88kSa/s
  • Capacitive touch buttons and LCD Module provide quick and easy access to the control menu
  • Can be accessed through a standard I2C interface and virtual register map
  • Onboard header for connecting an off-the-shelf UART-to-BLUETOOTH® module
  • USB connector enables the creation of highly optimized communication channels using the USB stack or through a virtual serial port
