Kinetic Technologies KTZ8868 High Efficiency 8-Ch LED Backlight Driver offers an ideal power solution for LED backlighting and an LCD bias power for medium-size panels. The KTZ8868 backlight driver integrates two step-up converters for LED backlighting, a step-up converter with LDO, and an inverting charge pump for LCD bias power. This integration results in a simpler and smaller solution with fewer external components. The KTZ8868 high-efficiency driver operates from a 2.7V to 5.5V voltage range for 1-cell lithium-ion batteries or a 5V supply. This LED driver consists of eight current sinks, and each sink can regulate up to 30mA with a maximum boost output voltage of up to 40V. The KTZ8868 8-Ch LED backlight driver is ideally used for tablet backlight and bias.The KTZ8868 features an 11-bit linear or exponential ILED resolution that can be obtained over I2C or PWM dimming. This PWM dimming offers a wide range of frequency and duty cycles to support Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) for additional flexibility. The KTZ8868 maximizes conversion efficiency by up to 85%. This LED driver supports various protection features like inductor current limit protection, output short circuit protection, output over-voltage protection, and LED fault (open or short) protection. The KTZ8868 is equipped with an I2C interface for various controls and status monitors, is RoHS and Green-compliant, and is available in a WQFN55-32 package.
