Analog Devices Inc. MAX20479 2/3-Input Automotive Voltage Monitors
Analog Devices MAX20479 2/3-Input Automotive Voltage Monitors are highly integrated devices designed to provide robust power‑system supervision in safety‑critical automotive applications. Fully ASIL‑B compliant, the devices serve as a system‑on‑a‑chip (SoC) voltage monitor that significantly reduces component count while enhancing reliability in advanced electronic control systems. Engineered for flexibility, the ADI MAX20479 supports 2.35V to 5.50V supply operation and features multiple voltage monitoring inputs. Inputs 1 and 2 can be programmed to monitor voltages from 0.5V to 3.6875V in precise 12.5mV steps, while input 3 (available on MAX20479B/D variants) covers a wider 0.5V to 5.6V range with 20mV resolution. Each monitored channel includes independently selectable overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) thresholds ranging from 2.5% to 10%, with a high accuracy of ±0.8%.
To support functional‑safety requirements, the MAX20479 integrates a programmable windowed watchdog, enabling system‑level supervision of microcontrollers and SoCs. Configuration flexibility is further enhanced by one‑time programmable (OTP) settings with error‑correcting code (ECC), allowing designers to tailor the monitoring profiles to specific system needs. Programmable RESET1 and RESET2 outputs provide additional control for system‑level fault handling.
Designed for harsh automotive environments, these ADI devices operate across an extended -40°C to +125°C temperature range and are packaged in a compact 10‑pin side‑wettable TDFN (3mm × 3mm), compliant with AEC‑Q100 standards. With the small solution size, low operating current (125µA), and minimal external component requirement, the MAX20479 voltage monitors are ideal for next‑generation automotive electronics, including advanced driver‑assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous‑driving processing units, remote sensor modules, and power‑system supervision.
