PTR PolyTron™ PTC Devices

Eaton Electronics PTR PolyTron™ PTC Devices are 16V, 30V, and 60V radial polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resettable overcurrent protection devices. The fuses offer fast time-to-trip and low resistance with current ratings from 0.90A to 15A for PTR016V, 0.90A to 9A for PTR030V, and 0.10A to 3.75A for PTR060V. These devices protect sensitive components from overcurrent and overtemperature conditions such as power surges, electrical transients, high ambient temperatures, etc. A special positive coefficient material offers internal resistance that increases exponentially in response to these overcurrent conditions and higher temperatures. Eaton Electronics PTR devices ensure a constant uptime in applications where one-time fuses would be impractical or costly. This includes medical equipment, computers and peripherals, telecommunications, consumer and automotive electronics, rechargeable battery packs, and more.

Battery Management Systems

Eaton provides a wide portfolio of products for Battery Management Systems (BMS), including terminal blocks, fuses, supercapacitors, chokes, inductors, and more. Battery Management Systems monitor individual cells, system voltage, current, and temperature. When monitoring individual cells, the BMS balances voltages and regulates the current flow, and if the upper or lower voltage, current, or temperature limit is exceeded, the BMS temporarily disconnects the load or source. Eaton Battery Management Systems estimate the State of Health (SoH), State of Charge (SoC), State of Energy (SoE), and State of Power (SoP) in batteries.

PTC Resettable Fuses

Eaton PTC Resettable Fuses are designed to protect sensitive components from overcurrent and overtemperature conditions that can occur due to power surges, electrical transients, high ambient temperatures, and more. The PTC fuses are based on a unique positive coefficient material whose internal resistance increases exponentially due to overcurrent conditions and higher temperatures. High resistance offered by the fuse during a trip prevents current from flowing through the circuit until the fault current/over-temperature source is removed and falls below the design current/temperature limit. Once the fault current is removed or the ambient temperature cools, the fuse re-enters its conducting state, allowing the current to flow through the circuit again. These components ensure constant uptime in applications where using one-time fuses would be impractical or expensive, including battery-powered devices, industrial controllers, medical devices, and I/O ports of consumer electronics.
