It has come to our attention that repackaged and relabeled
Bourns Trimpot model 3314 trimming potentiometers are appearing
in the marketplace in Europe. These repackaged and relabeled
Trimpot model 3314 parts are not being offered by authorized
distributors or resellers of Bourns products.  Instead, it
appears that unauthorized resellers are collecting Trimpot model
3314 parts and repacking these parts with new labels showing
date codes prior to the introduction of the RoHS standard in
Europe.  Further, these unauthorized resellers are representing
to customers with military and medical needs that the Trimpot
model 3314 parts being offered for sale include tin/lead plating
on the leads, hoping to secure your business with this claim.
Please be aware that the Trimpot model 3314 has been made with
pure tin plating for approximately twenty (20) years.  For a
short period of time from the introduction of Trimpot model 3314
until 1990, Bourns made the Trimpot model 3314 with an unplated
lead frame and solder-dipped the parts.  Consequentially, the
only Trimpot model 3314 parts with leads that contain some lead
from solder are the ones made by Bourns before the changeover in
1990.  While we will take action against any known party
misrepresenting the characteristics of Bourns products,
unauthorized resellers often go to great lengths to conceal
their identity.  If anyone offers to sell you Trimpot model 3314
parts with tin/lead plating, we would appreciate hearing from
you.  Most likely, you are being offered either a counterfeit
product or a genuine Trimpot model 3314 part with pure tin
plating, because genuine Trimpot model 3314 parts with
lead-soldered leads would be twenty (20) or more years old.  If
customers want to be assured of receiving the quality and
performance of genuine Bourns products, customers should buy
only from authorized Bourns sources.  Additionally, the Bourns
standard product warranty applies only to genuine Bourns
products purchased through our authorized selling network.
